Trading platform

Optionbit operates a very intuitive trading platform – or ‘traderoom’. Everything is laid out in a clear way, so whether a trader is completely new to binary options, or a seasoned veteran, trading is simple.

The type of binary option required is selected via the menu bar at the top of the trading area (each type is covered in more detail in the ‘Trade Selection’ section).

The next choice for traders is to select the asset they want to trade. This can be simplified by using the filters just below the selection box: ‘All’ displays a large list of all the available assets, while the remaining tabs (currencies, commodities, indices and shares) filter the assets to only those that fall. in the relevant category. The actual list of assets is displayed on the left. Traders can simply click on the desired asset and the rest of the trading area will update to display information for the asset. The list of assets can be scrolled up and down and can also be re-ordered. Traders can list assets by name, expiration time or payout.

The standard display of the trading house displays one trading window. However, traders have the ability to select the ‘Multi’ view which allows them to trade more than one asset at a time.

Once an asset is selected, the trading area will display the information required to trade. At the top is a countdown – this indicates the point at which a trade had to take place, otherwise a trader would have to wait for a later expiration time.

In the middle of the screen are the trade buttons. It is clearly marked, and the hit price (marked ‘Our Price’) is displayed between the buttons. Just to the right is the sentiment bar for traders, which illustrates the direction in which those trading that asset currently think the price will move.

The last element of the trading platform is the price chart, to the right of the trading buttons. It is fully customizable and is much more flexible than the cards from competing brokers. At the top are tabs that give the trader a choice of chart type – line, candlestick or area. Below these tabs are the ‘zoom’ options that allow traders to view the chart over a longer time frame. Option Bit also offers traders a number of ‘Advanced Charts’ options (pictured) – these can be found at the bottom right of the trading room screen. It opens in a separate window (leaving traders free to easily switch back to the trading screen). It offers a large amount of detail and technical analysis tools.

Below the trading area is the ‘Open Trades’ window. All open trades are listed here, with the relevant details for each. It can also be used to view historical (closed) trades, or to check progress in tournaments a trader may have entered. Among these is a page News SINGLE, which updates with relevant news during the day. Finally, there is a menu for the extra features that the Option Bit offers, including the Advanced Charts button.

This is a very comprehensive trading area, and one that receives very positive feedback from traders.

Dealer Selection

Option Bit offers the following binary options;

  • Digital  – the traditional high / low binary.
  • Range – whether an asset price will end up inside or outside the pre-set ‘high’ and ‘low’ level.
  • Touch  – whether a trade ‘hits’ a predetermined price. The option will end ‘in the money’ once the price is touched – there is usually a ‘High’ touch value and a ‘Low’ touch value. Payouts for these trades will often be greater than the traditional high/low options, due to the higher price movement required to complete ‘in the money’.
  • Turbo – same as a ‘digital’ trade, but over very short timescales (from 30 seconds to 5 minutes).

This is a fairly ‘complete’ range of binary trading types that caters to all the popular trading styles.

In terms of assets, Optionbit offers options on forex, commodities and selected stocks and indices. The main strength of Optionbit is the currency trading. Far from Forex, the firm offers the most popular commodities and indices, but Forex is the deepest market range, followed by a good list of stocks. The variety of trade types, combined with a strong asset list, means that traders can have many options.

Mobile program

OptionBit offers a mobile app on Android (2.3 and up) and iOS (version 7.0 and up). The application has been thoughtfully developed – especially in the maps, the same attention has been given as on the full website.

The full range of binary options types and assets is available via the mobile app, as well as a full range of account management options. The app is responsive and well laid out – a lot of time and effort has gone into the design, which is not always the case with other mobile trading platforms. Reviews so far have come back positive, making us feel that Option Bit is building a very useful mobile app that delivers what traders want and need. (iOS screenshots shown)

Payout

OptionBit typically offers a maximum return of 85% on options. This rate can vary depending on the asset and the expiry time. The ‘Touch’ binary options often pay slightly higher due to the larger price changes required to settle ‘in the money’. Payouts of 220% for Touch options are normal. This is an area where the option Bit is improving, and progress has been good over the past few months; they are now extremely competitive in terms of payouts.

Withdrawal and deposit options

OptionBit offers a wide variety of deposit and withdrawal options. The main deposit method is via debit or credit cards, but a full list of ‘e-payment’ options are also available, from Skrill and Neteller to WebMoney and Yandex. No deposit is charged for deposits, but the minimum deposit is currently £200 at OptionBit.

Due to the guidance of money laundering, withdrawals can only be made once the merchant has fully verified his account. This involves additional proof of identity steps, including;

  • Recent utility bill as proof of address
  • Copy of front and back of credit card (if applicable)
  • ID (eg Passport)

These steps are common to all brokers, but can be a source of frustration for traders who were not aware of them before they had to make a withdrawal. It is wise to complete these checks as soon as possible after opening an account – this minimizes delays and reduces the chances of disputes. Withdrawals are one of the biggest causes of merchant complaints and delays in payments due to the verification certainly contribute the most to the problems – so the advice is to complete the verification as soon as possible.

One withdrawal per month is free at Option Bit, additional withdrawals are a $30 (£17) fee.

Withdrawals made by credit card can only be paid up to the same amount deposited on that card – additional funds must be withdrawn by bank transfer. WebMoney and Yanex deposits cannot be withdrawn using the same method, so any withdrawals must also be deposited via a bank. Option Bit clearly explains all their deposit and withdrawal details on their FAQ page (available under ‘Help’ at the bottom of the page) – not all brokers make things this clear, so Option Bit should be praised for all the options they offer the obvious ones are potential traders.

Other properties

OptionBit can offer the following features and benefits:

  • Algobit  – Algobit looks for new forming trends and gives an indication to the trader when the time is right to enter a trade. This is a product exclusive to Optionbit, and written in house.
  • Option Bit Tools  – Option Bit provides the opportunity for traders to ‘Close’, ‘Extend’ and ‘Autotrade’. These options give traders greater flexibility, and also the choice to automate the trade or some part of it.
  • Mobile Platform  – The Optionbit app allows traders to manage their account as well as manage their trades and portfolio on the go.
  • Email Alerts – merchants can set up email alerts directly to their inbox
  • Advanced Charts – The charting at Option Bit is now a strong strength, with charts delivered by a third party that specializes in detailed, feature rich charts. Traders who use technical analysis to make their trade choices should definitely consider checking out the charting equipment at Option Bit.

Option Bit is a good all-round binary options broker, providing a good depth of trade types and assets, as well as some unique features such as the AlgoBit service and the advanced charts. The firm also operates tournaments, which are widely popular among traders and delivers a strong mobile application. So they are a broker that delivers across the board – especially now that the payouts are more competitive.
